We are excited to announce David Flom as the new varsity boys’ basketball head coach. Coach Flom has had significant success in high school coaching including numerous statewide and national accolades. Additionally, Coach Flom’s character and his reputation for service through sports set him apart as the right leader for our program.
Coaching Experience
Flom finished his coaching career at Eden Prairie with a 70.4 win percentage and an overall record of 393–165. While coaching the Eagles, Coach Flom was a nine times Section Coach of the Year with nine state tournament appearances. The Minnesota State High School Coaches Association also voted him as Coach of the Year twice.
The Eagles finished the 2020 season 28-0 ranked No. 1 in Class 4A in Minnesota but never got their opportunity to win a state title after the tournament was canceled due to COVID. Flom earned ESPN’s 2020 National High School Coach of the Year.
Before his career at Eden Prairie High School, Flom was the assistant men’s basketball coach at his alma mater Gustavus Adolphus College and a head coach at Watertown-Mayer prior to Gustavus.
Campus Scheduler and Coordinator
Coach Flom has also accepted the Campus Scheduler and Coordinator position. He will fill the position with a ton of experience. He has led basketball camps with over 500 participants each summer and assisted in coordinating basketball tournaments of over 200 games. With the opening of our athletic expansion, we look forward to his expertise, planning, and organizational skills in addition to coaching.
From Darin Keizer, Athletic Director
We look forward to Coach Flom’s arrival as he leads our student-athletes not only on the court but more importantly to grow as humble disciples of Christ who seek to love their neighbor.
